The title of this award is derived from an old proverb of the Ibo people of Nigeria. “Until lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” The message is that no telling of history is complete until both sides are told.
This is a prestigious award for distinguished leaders aged 65 and older. Nominees must have demonstrated a commitment to serving families and children in the ULGSO community or have changed the face of Southwestern Ohio by their words, actions, and deeds.
Our illustrious 29th Class of Glorifying the Lions honorees, Bishop Michael E. Dantley, EdD, Stephen L. Hightower, Angelita M. Jones, Camille A. Jones MD, MPH, Peg Moertl, and Rabbi Dr. Gary P. Zola. Our new Lions will be recognized during the 29th Annual Glorifying the Lions Ceremony! This year’s celebration will be a hybrid event, with both a televised special on April 13th and a private luncheon.
