The Urban Caregiver Network Advocates for Education Equity

We empower caregivers to take an active role in shaping educational policies, ensuring their voices are heard and valued. At UCN, we believe that education should be free of bias and respect the intersectionality of students. We believe that education equity is a fundamental right, and we are committed to empowering caregivers to become influential voices in shaping policies that directly impact their children’s education. What We Do

Our mission is to foster a culture of educational advocacy, centered on caregivers and their families. We accomplish this through:

    • Community Organizing: Developing caregiver leadership to influence policy changes at local and state levels.
    • Public Awareness Campaigns: Informing and mobilizing communities around key issues in education.
    • Caregiver Support: Providing personalized support through advocacy and power mapping to help caregivers navigate educational challenges.

About the Urban Caregiver Network

The Urban Caregiver Network is a community-driven initiative that empowers urban student caregivers to engage in educational advocacy. Through over 200 one-on-one conversations with local caregivers, we have developed a network that reflects the true needs and concerns of the underrepresented families we serve. By fostering strong relationships and mutual respect, UCN is building a platform where Urban caregivers can shape educational practices and policies that prioritize their values.

This program empowers anyone who supports K-12 students attending Cincinnati Public Schools with the right tools to advocate for their student.
