Urban Expungement Program
The Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio’s Expungement Program, in partnership with the Hamilton County Public Defender, National Urban League, and the Ohio Justice Bus, provides crucial legal assistance for individuals seeking to clear their criminal records. This initiative aims to remove barriers to employment, housing, education, and other opportunities by leveraging existing expungement statutes to identify eligible records for clearance. Participants receive free legal reviews, assistance with paperwork and court filings, and information on their rights and career training opportunities. The program's comprehensive approach ensures that individuals have the support they need to achieve a fresh start and enhance their quality of life.
Nia Thomas
Manager of Social Justice Advocacy
Nia Thomas is the Manager of Social Justice Advocacy at the Center for Social Justice with the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio. With a deep passion for transformative community engagement and policy advocacy, Nia has been instrumental in advancing social justice causes. With a bachelor's degree in political science and a certificate in Legal Studies, Nia is the youngest graduate of the only Master of Public Administration in Social Justice program, with a concentration in Social and Urban Policy. Nia Thomas is recognized as a dedicated Social Justice Practitioner, driven by a mission to contribute to the liberation of Black people and create a more equitable society.
Fanon Rucker
Executive Advisor
Retired Judge Fanon A. Rucker brings more than twenty years of legal experience and advocacy to the work of the Holloman Center for Social Justice as Executive Advisor. Judge Rucker was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, graduated from Hampton University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. As a prosecutor, Judge Rucker tried hundreds of bench and jury trials and regularly advocated for domestic violence and assault victims.
