The Urban Expungement Program

A Note About Our Program

The Urban Expungement Program is currently on pause as the Holloman Center for Social Justice actively seeks funding to continue this critical work. We remain deeply committed to expanding access to justice and second chances for individuals across our community.

Fortunately, several excellent organizations in Hamilton County continue to offer free expungement clinics, record sealing assistance, and legal guidance. We strongly encourage anyone seeking help to connect with the trusted partners listed below.

Hamilton County Public Defender — Fresh Start Expungement

The Hamilton County Public Defender's Office hosts the Fresh Start Expungement Clinic, which helps individuals determine whether they qualify for record sealing or expungement and assists with the filing process. Clinics are held twice per month and are free to attend — individuals are encouraged to call ahead for scheduling and to confirm eligibility before attending.

Understanding Eligibility for Expungement in Ohio

Ohio's expungement and record sealing laws can be complex. Whether you qualify depends on several factors, including:

  • The number and type of offenses on your record
  • The amount of time that has passed since your case was resolved
  • Whether the offense is eligible for sealing under Ohio law
  • Whether there are any pending charges or unpaid fines

We strongly encourage individuals to contact one of the partner organizations listed above for accurate, personalized guidance on their specific situation. Both organizations offer free consultations.
